Dosage and Administration Guidelines for Augmentin 875 mg-125 mg

Always follow your doctor’s instructions. The usual dose for adults is one 875 mg/125 mg tablet twice daily.

Swallowing the Tablet

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush it.

Duration of Treatment

Continue taking Augmentin for the full course of treatment, even if you start feeling better. Stopping early may allow the infection to return. Your doctor will determine the appropriate length of treatment, typically ranging from 5 to 14 days.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Severe allergic reactions are rare but possible. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue; difficulty breathing; or hives.

Special Considerations

Kidney problems: Your doctor may adjust your dosage if you have kidney disease. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Discuss Augmentin use with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Children: Augmentin 875 mg/125 mg is not typically prescribed for children. Children require a differently formulated and dosed Augmentin.

Storage

Store Augmentin at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
