Administering Prevacid to Your Baby Safely

Always use the dosage your pediatrician prescribes. Never exceed the recommended amount. Accurately measure the liquid medication using the provided oral syringe or a calibrated dropper for precise dosing. Avoid using household spoons as they aren’t accurate enough.

Mixing Prevacid

If mixing Prevacid with food, use a small amount of breast milk, formula, or applesauce. Avoid mixing with strongly flavored foods that might mask the taste and make your baby refuse the medication. Gently swirl to combine; do not shake vigorously.

Administering the Medicine

Gently hold your baby securely and administer the medication slowly to the back of their mouth to prevent choking. Allow your baby time to swallow before offering more. If your baby spits up some medication, do not re-administer the dose without consulting your doctor. Clean the syringe or dropper thoroughly after each use.

Storage and Disposal

Store Prevacid as directed on the label, typically at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Discard any leftover medication after the expiration date. Properly dispose of any unused medication according to your local guidelines to prevent accidental ingestion.
