When to Seek Immediate Medical Attention

If you experience difficulty breathing or swallowing, seek immediate medical attention. These symptoms can indicate a serious complication of strep throat requiring urgent care.

Severe Allergic Reactions

Allergic reactions to amoxicillin are possible. Watch for hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, and difficulty breathing. Call emergency services immediately if you experience any of these.

High fever (above 101°F or 38.3°C) that doesn’t respond to amoxicillin within 24-48 hours warrants a doctor’s visit. Persistent or worsening sore throat, despite treatment, also needs immediate evaluation. Severe headache, stiff neck, or rash should prompt immediate medical attention, as these could signal more serious infections.
