Always apply a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher daily, even on cloudy days, to prevent sun damage and hyperpigmentation. Reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating.
Start with a pea-sized amount of tretinoin, applying it every other night. Gradually increase frequency as your skin tolerates it. Avoid overuse; more isn’t better.
Expect some initial irritation–redness, dryness, and peeling. This is normal. Reduce application frequency or temporarily stop use if irritation becomes severe. Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer daily to combat dryness.
Avoid simultaneous use with other harsh skincare products, such as strong exfoliants (AHAs/BHAs) or benzoyl peroxide. Combining these can increase irritation significantly.
Tretinoin can increase sun sensitivity. Limit sun exposure, especially during peak hours. Seek shade and protective clothing when outdoors.
Do not use tretinoin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult your dermatologist before using tretinoin if you have eczema, rosacea, or other sensitive skin conditions.
Avoid contact with your eyes and mouth. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
Store tretinoin in a cool, dark place to maintain its potency. Avoid temperatures above 77°F (25°C).
Consult your dermatologist before starting tretinoin, or if you experience any unexpected side effects. Regular check-ups are recommended to monitor progress and address any concerns.
